The Teaching and Educational Media Support Unit, The Center for Library Resources and Educational medias at Walailak University, has produced an online course titled “Southern Thai Cuisine.” This course is part of Walailak University’s open education initiative, WUMOOC, and will be available on the Thai MOOC platform for learners of all ages at no cost. Currently, the course is in the video recording phase, which will later be developed into comprehensive educational media.
The “Southern Thai Cuisine” online course integrates knowledge from various academic disciplines, including arts and culture, social sciences, and health sciences, with expertise from Walailak University faculty. It aims to provide an engaging and accessible learning experience for interested participants.
The course covers the origins of Southern Thai cuisine, including related cultural traditions, customs, and local wisdom. Five popular Southern Thai dishes are highlighted, with demonstrations of cooking techniques and step-by-step guidance to help learners replicate the recipes at home. In addition to culinary knowledge, the course serves to preserve and promote the nutritional culture of Southern Thailand.
