CLM Librarian Speaking at Graduate Student Orientation 2023
Graduate

On August 8th, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, representatives from The Center for Library Resources and Educational media (CLM), Walailak University, participated as guest speakers in the orientation program for new graduate students of the first semester of the academic year 2023 at Thasala Phirum Conference Room, 1st Floor, Academic Building 8, Walailak University. The orientation was organized by the Graduate School, Walailak University, and was conducted in both Onsite and Online formats. During this occasion, Ms. Santat Sarak, the Promotion and Learning Services Officer, introduced library services and essential resources that graduate students should be aware of. These included techniques for searching information resources from the library’s databases, accessing E-Books, downloading free full-text articles, utilizing interlibrary loan services for books not available in the library, and navigating various databases through CLM website.

The website https://library.wu.ac.th offers borrowing privileges to graduate students, allowing them to borrow a maximum of 15 books for a period of 30 days. Additionally, the library provides training courses on essential tools necessary for thesis and research work. This includes programs such as EndNote for creating reference bibliographies and Turnitin, an online database used to check for academic plagiarism. Furthermore, the online databases accessible through the website serve as tools to verify the academic integrity of research work by detecting online publications that may have been copied. These services are offered to professors, students, researchers, and university staff within Walailak University.

The recent introduction to library and database usage has garnered significant interest among graduate students. They’ve shown keen curiosity about utilizing the library’s space, borrowing procedures, and VPN usage for accessing the provided databases. These resources are aimed at supporting learning, teaching, and research endeavors. Ms. Santat Sarak, the spokesperson, highlighted various communication channels for inquiries, including phone numbers and social media platforms. She encouraged new students to like the “Walailak University Library” Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/walailakclm and add “Walailak Library” as a friend on the official Line account for further updates and assistance.
